John was the son of Dr. Delmas Earl and Nancy (Morse) Brierley, and brother to Stephen. He married Patricia PatsyMcMullin, a graduate of Morningside High School and a beloved teacher at Lennox. John coached basketball at Lennox for four years while still teaching at Westchester High School.
Memorial services were November 17, 2024.

Retired after teaching social studies in LAUSD for 37 years. Coached frosh basketball at Lennox 73-77.    [8/11/18]
