OBITUARY                           April 28, 2013

Larry L. Teeter passed away at his home in Susanville on Sunday, April 28, 2013. He was born in Burlington, Vt., and raised in the Los Angeles, Calif. area. He graduated from Utah State University. After living and working in Medford, Ore. and Monticello , Utah, he and his family moved to Susanville in 1978 where he was a recreation planner for the Bureau of Land Management. Larry is survived by his wife, Margie; and twin sons, Daniel and wife, Wendy, and grandchildren, Lily and Shelby; and David and wife, Rebecca, grandson, Zane and granddaughter, Chloe. He is also survived by a brother, Douglas, and sister- in-law, Amy, of Fresno, Calif.; sister-in-law, Barbara Teeter, in Rochester, N.Y.; aunt Milda Wilhelm, in Rochester; and numerous cousins, a niece and a nephew. He loved the outdoors and hiking and camping. He and his family spent many summer vacations visiting national parks. He had fond memories of going to Yosemite and, prior to his death, took his grandchildren to his most favorite place on Earth, the valley of Yosemite. While in college Larry spent two summers as a U.S. Forest Service ranger in the John Muir wilderness outside of Fresno and said it was the best job he ever had. After two ears of Army service at Fort Knox, Larry joined the BLM in Medford

where he met his wife, Margie. They were married in 1970 and two years later David and Daniel joined the family. Shortly after that they moved to Monticello, where his job included running the Colorado and San Juan River plus working in wilderness areas. In Susanville he spent many enjoyable hours walking on the trails in the Susanville Ranch Park with his dogs. He also helped to eradicate the star thistle in the park by pulling out as many as he could on his walks. In lieu of flowers a small donation can be made to the Lassen County Public Works to help fund the replacement of the burned down bridge over Piute Creek in Susanville Ranch Park. For details, call David Teeter at Margie's Book Nook at 257-2392. A private service is planned for this July on a mountaintop followed by a gathering at the Teeters' home.
