Kitty Laws married her high school sweetheart Bob Belendez while still in high school. They've been happily married 55 years and have lived in Santa Clarita, California since 1966. Bob and Kitty have a daughter, Tina, and a son, Rob. They also have 6 grandchildren, and one great grandson. Although Kitty left Lennox High School before graduation, she received her high school diploma by taking the GED test. She later attended the UCLA Graduate School of Management where she studied advertising, marketing and business, and received a Certificate in Business Management. She worked in graphic arts, aerospace, and enjoyed a 17-year career as National Advertising Manager for Staedtler/Mars, a German manufacturer of drafting and art supplies. Kitty was fortunate to be able to travel to many exciting locations during her career as Advertising Manager, such as Canada, Germany, New York, Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans and Miami. After making a mid-life career change in 1994, she worked 20 years as Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of the Castaic Union School District before retiring in 2014. Kitty and her husband Bob enjoy the fun hobby of growing 350 roses, and frequently travel around the United States to exhibit their roses in competitions in places such as Portland, Atlanta, and Nashville, where they have won national trophies. Kitty is an American Rose Society Master Rosarian and Horticultural Rose Judge, has written over 300 published articles on rose horticulture, and is webmaster of two rose society web pages.
