John was born in Inglewood, California on August 25, 1946, to Virgil and Thelma Asher. He passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in Fresno with his family at his side. John was a surveyor for CalTrans until 2008. John is survived by his loving wife Gwenda of 41 years; his mother Thelma Asher of Corvalis, Oregon; his four children, Alexander Asher of Fresno, Christopher, Jeanette & Tanya Asher all of Los Angeles. He also leaves three sisters. I attended El Camino and CSU Long Beach. After working in several different fields I finally settled on land surveying. I currently work as a Senior Transportation Surveyor for Caltrans in Fresno and am eagerly approaching retirement. I've been married 35 years and have four grown kids.  [4/19/05]
