LANCER LADY
Star Ann (McCartney) Curtiss

March 2, 1946 - June 19, 2024
Inglewood, California - Springville, Missouri

Class of 1964

Star

I married fellow Lancer, Rick Curtiss (64), and we have three wonderful children and four grandsons. Living in the Missouri Ozarks since 1980.

I worked for plastic surgeons until we left California. We owned our own Ma and Pa Pharmacy that was between Diggins and Cedar Gap, Missouri for 15 years. Now we enjoy being retired, enjoying the grandkids, computers and other hobbies.

STAR's Bio

Our beloved Star was the daughter of Marcel A. McCartney, and Mary B. (Coe) & Owen Booth. She was the oldest of her two siblings, Frederick Fritz (65 - RIP), and Dawn N. (McCartney) Villoni (66).

She grew up in Lennox and loved her upbringing there as much as life itself, loyal to the nth degree to the community and Lennox High School. Star knew most everyone and kept in contact with her childhood friends throughout her adult life. Like all cute girls, she had plenty of guys chasing her in high school to include her husband, Rick Curtiss. She was very active at Lennox, participating in Varsity Song, Track Princess, and other activities. Their children are Jeff, Tammy and Chad.

Star was always committed to and one of the most Loyal Royal Lancers that Lennox High ever had. Those that knew her, knew she loved and gave unconditionally to the Lancer community regardless of personal differences. She was quick witted, funny, charming, fiercly loyal, kinda strongly opinionated, and unapogeletically a pro-America patriot to the core. When she said she enjoyed grandkids, computer and other hobbies, she was just glossing over her intensive love for them. Still not sure, take a look at all the pictures below that she added over the years. Not sure about the love for computers? Take a look at the rest of this website. Her love for Rick, well it was really hard to find pictures of her without her soulmate, but with enough digging through this website, there she was, as you can see as her now picture above captured at the YK2000 Multi-Class Reunion.

Star was a giver. One time a Lancer classmate and her husband stopped by and visited them in Ozarks and Star was prepared and gave a gift to her that has meant the world to her ever since, posting that she would never have thought to give a guest a gift when visiting. The saying, you are what you eat, or you are what you keep", rings true for her. She had a curio cabinet filled with angelic figurines, which I'm sure would have disagreed with, but captured Star's inner being.

Some of you reading this may think, huh, I didn't know that about her! Imagine if you will, that when she mentioned computers, that was an understatment. Then there is the part about computers. She loved learning and doing new things to the Lennox Lancer Home website.

When the Y2K time came, her class of 1964 organized the big YK2000 Multi-Class Reunion and they needed a central place to post information and to keep track of everyone for it. Star took the helm with the idea of creating and bringing to fruition the Lennox Lancer Home website to do just that, and was a great forum for posting all the pictures from it and the other reunions that asked her to post them as well. As a result, the site quickly blossomed as a great place to keep in touch with fellow Lancers and so she took it to the next level by posting comments to each other. All the animation, the layouts, special pictures, the music, that was all Star. It took and takes many hours a day to keep up with the site, let alone build and maintain it was a labor of love. Star was devoted to all Lancers and took the helm to make it the best Alumni website on the internet. She eventually used php programming to automate the reunion signup as well as the comments everyone was posting to each other. Although it was automated, it all had to be approved before posting so that no garbage or hacks could infiltrate the website and scam our Lancers. It was as much if not more of a full time job for her even while still working her full-time job, she devoted her time and energy to constantly trying to improve the site. She even taught herself how to make animated pictures known as gif's. She mastered picture editing. Star will be dearly missed but we are all so grateful for this beautiful gift she gave us back in 1999. Rest in Peace our as our bright Star shining on us in the years to come.
