Kathleen (Katie) Albert was a resident of Ojai for many years together with her loving husband, Gene Berry, who predeceased her.

Katie was known by all as a high-spirited, determined, fun-loving person. She was raised in Inglewood, California, by her loving mother, Lula Albert, and two aunts, Frances and Garnette Dillon. Katie was the only child of her mother Lula, who devoted herself to Katie.

After high school, Katie attended El Camino College. Later, she trained for and became a designer for California Closets where Katie's design talents plus her well-known verbal skills, together with her strong sales ability, led to a successful career.

Later on in Ojai she connected with the love of her life, Gene Berry, and they spent many wonderful years together in Ojai. Upon his death, Katie moved from Ojai, but then returned here in 2022. Unfortunately, in early 2024, she was diagnosed with brain and lung tumors and succumbed to cancer last week.

In her last weeks, Ojai Rehab Center and Livingston Hospice attended to Katie. She had many visitors during her last days and Katie left this world peacefully and in comfort on October 3, 2024. Her last evening on Earth she was comforted by her little black dog, Baker.

She is mourned by many friends, among them Brent and Lisa Winebrenner, Amy Farah Weiss, Lisa Klepfer, Paul Wallet, Kevin Convery, Bridget Mara and Brandon Pedley. Her relatives are half brother, David Albert (76), niece Michelle Dillon, and cousin Reyla Graber.

Inglewood Park Cemetery will be Katie's final resting place alongside her mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the "Encampment" in care of Ojai City Hall.
