In Memory

Carol was a very beautiful and wonderful person right up until the end--when her life-long battle with Cyctic Fibrosis finally claimed her in her 20's.  My name is Kirk Davenport. I would have graduated with Lennox High School Class of '76, had I not moved to Inglewood after my Freshman year. In spite of that unfortunate turn in my young life, to this day I still consider myself a member of Class Of 1976.

I originally posted an IN MEMORIAM for my Cousin Carol Lyons, when I discovered this LANCERS site and found that she had not already been listed there. After posting Carol's name, I let time go by in order that The Lyons Family and their friends might send the LANCERS site a picture of her of their choosing.

The Lyons Family lived in Lennox since the very early 1960's. All 5 of the Lyons children attended primary and middle schools in Lennox. Carol and her two older Sisters went to Lennox High School. I was sure it wouldn't be long before someone remembered her and the Lyons Family, and felt compelled to help out and post a picture of Carol. To date, nothing was posted and I am saddened by this. Enough time had passed. I sent the LANCERS site a photograph of Carol in order that she be respectfully remembered, and it is now available for all who knew her to enjoy.

While this is certainly not the best picture of Carol, it is from the early to mid-1970's. Carol attended Lennox High School for a time. Then her Family moved to Santa Monica and she attended University High School. I don't have her graduate portrait from that school, but I remember that portrait was a very good photo of her. Those who attended will remember it was displayed at her Memorial. I am sure Carol's family would be proud to have that portait displayed here on the LANCERS site, but in its absence, the picture I sent is useful because Carol's many good and close friends at Lennox will remember her from that time period.

Although I love all my Family, Carol was my favorite First Cousin. We were the same ages, had very similar tastes and many other things in common, besides just being cousins. She was a very beautiful and wonderful person right up until the end. Her life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis finally sent her home to be with God in her 20's. I'm sure she's with her Dad and our Nana, and I can't wait to see them all again! We have so much to catch up on. That will be a beautiful moment.

Such a sweet young woman...it's been a long time, but I still miss her very much.

Carol is survived by her Mother, Joan; Sisters Debbie, Mary and Donna; and Brother, John.

I hope those who were lucky enough to have known her have wonderful, happy memories of her, just as I do.
