John was born in Brooklyn, New York to Francesco "Frank" J. Napoli, (October 15, 1932 - May 12, 1986, in Lawndale, California) and Eleanor Angela FEDELE (14 December 14, 1933 - October 18, 2010 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California).

He had a sister and a brother that went to Lennox, Donna (Class of 1975) and Frank (Class of 1980, and one younger half sister. One daughter, Jennifer.
